On
the evening of November 9, 2017, the 63rd Lecture of the Luojia Series on Environmental
Law was held at the 325 classroom of the law school. RIEL has the honor to
invite Dr. Wang Lei from the World Wildlife Fund (Switzerland) Beijing
Representative Office to give her excellent lecture entitled "The Progress
and Analysis of China's National Park System Construction". This lecture
was chaired by Prof. Qin Tianbao, director of RIEL. Dr. Yang Wenjing from the
Wuling Mountain Ecosystem Protection Federation of Enshi Prefecture, Associate
Professor Li Guangbing, Assistant of Director, and doctoral students and master
students attended the lecture.
First,
Dr. Wang Lei introduced WWF. Next Dr. Wang Lei focused on China's current
construction of national park system. By analyzing the shortcomings of existing
nature reserves, she pointed out that it is necessary to build national park
system. She said that WWF will support the construction of national park system
mainly through policy advocacy, scientific research, publicity and project
demonstration.
Finally, Dr. Wang Lei took the construction of the pilot area of Sanjiangyuan National Park as an example to describe the challenges China encountered in the construction of national parks. During the Q & A session, Professor Qin Tianbao, Associate Professor Li Guangbing and Dr. Yang Wenjing conducted wonderful talks, and the students present also raised their own questions respectively. Other participants discussed and analyzed these issues warmly, and the students all said that they have benefited from it. The seminar ended in a warm atmosphere.
