On
the afternoon of October 24, 2017, RIEL held a seminar on the construction of environmental
law clinic. This seminar has invited environment law practice fields
celebrities from Beijing Friends of Nature law and policy advocacy director Ge Feng,
director of the Beijing Huanming Law Firm Hu Yulai, China Biodiversity
Conservation and Green Development Foundation general counsel, Wang Wenyong, Hubei
Green Spring Law Frim, deputy director Wang Hui and practicing lawyer Zhang
Yidan, Anhui Lawyers Association Environmental Resource and Energy Commission
economic lawyer Zhao Guang, Hui Ye Law Firm founding partner and law firm
management committee chairman Yang Guosheng, Hubei Dewell & Partners Law
Firm (wuhan) director Cai Xueen, and education research association of law
clinic Chinese legal education, deputy director of professional committee of Wuhan
university clinic legal research center director Prof. Li Ao, legal aid center
director, Wuhan university legal experimental teaching center, the executive
director Prof. Xiang Yan etc, discuss the construction of the environmental law
clinic.

The
meeting was chaired by assistant Prof. Li guangbing. To begin with, Prof. Ben
Boer introduced the origins and assumptions of the environmental legal clinic. Preliminary
design scheme is that Wuhan University environment law clinic education mainly consists
of two aspects including environmental law theory and practice.
After
that, Prof. Xiang Yan introduces the legal aid center of Wuhan University,
including the method for students to participate in, working content and
cooperation with law firms. Prof. Li Ao made a corresponding introduction to
the law clinic education, which is aimed at undergraduate students, and she pointed
out that students are also often involved in the work of legal aid center.
In the discussion phase, participants from law firms, social organizations introduced respectively experience in the field of environmental law practice, focusing on experiences and lessons on co-establishing a legal clinic with education institutions, a lot of detailed and targeted Suggestions are put forward. The parties also fully exchanged views on the funding source of the long-term operation of the environmental law clinic, the staffing of professional guidance personnel and the daily operation methods. Everyone said that they would strongly support the establishment of the environmental law clinic in Wuhan University and would like to contribute to the future development of the environmental law clinic in different forms.
