On
October 20-21, 2017, the fifteenth Luojia Forum on Environmental Law, i.e., the
“International Workshop on Environmental Law and Economics: How to Govern the
Commons?" was held at RIEL WHU.
The
international workshop was organized by RIEL, the key research base of China’s
ministry of education. More than 20 Chinese and foreign experts and scholars from
abroad well-known colleges and universities such as Maastricht university in
the Netherlands, Erasmus university, Australia university of New England,
Potsdam university in Germany and Duke Kunshan university, Renmin university of
China, China university of political science and law, China ocean university,
sun yat-sen university, Suzhou university, Zhejiang university of finance and
economics, Hubei economy academy, Wuhan university, and organizations such as
WWF attended the workshop, RIEL has more than 40 doctoral and master students took part in.
On
the morning of October 20, the meeting held a brief opening ceremony. Opening
ceremony was presided over by RIEL Associate Prof. Liu Jing, dean of Wuhan
university law school Prof. Feng Guo, deputy director of RIEL Prof. Ke Jian, Prof.
Michael Faure from Maastricht university and Erasmus university and RIEL
"one thousand talents" program Prof. Ben Boer attended the opening
ceremony and has published a speech. After the opening ceremony, the
participants took a photo.
From
the morning of October 20 to the noon of 21, this workshop was divided into six
units. The theme of the first unit is "Regulation, Welfare and Change of Environmental
Law". The topic of the second unit is the "Weakness of the Environmental
Enforcement Mechanism Based on Deterrence". The topic of the third unit is
"Setting Environmental Standards". The theme of the fourth unit is
"From Government to Governance". On the morning of October 21, the
general assembly entered the fifth unit, which focused on the theme of "Private
Law: Property Rights". The theme of the sixth unit is "Private Law
Approach: Tort Law and Contract Law".
At
noon on October 21, the workshop moved to the closing ceremony. This meeting
has fully demonstrated the internationalization degree of RIEL.
