Prof. Peter Mascini from Erasmus University guested on Luojia Lecture Series on Environmental Law

On the afternoon of October 18, 2017, the fifty-ninth the lecture of jia Lecture Series on Environmental Law was held at the 325 classroom in law school. The lecture was given by Prof. Peter Mascini from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and the topic of the lecture was "Comparing Assumptions underlying Regulatory Inspection Strategies". This lecture was presided over by RIEL Associate Prof. Liu Jing. RIEL deputy director Prof. Ke Jian, deputy director Dr Hu bin, assistant of the director Prof. Zhang Zhiwei (Alexander Zahar), Dr Wu Yu and doctoral and master school attended the lecture.

 

Prof. Peter Mascini first expressed his gratitude for the invitation to attend the lecture. He then gave a brief introduction to four typical social cases in the Netherlands and asked questions: what advice would you give to prevent these chemical events? After the students put forward their views, Prof. Peter Mascini analyzed the feasibility of the proposal from the analysis of two policy theories of corporate punishment theory and reintegrative shaming theory.

 

After explaining these two theories, Prof. Peter Mascini once again asked the participants: first, please review the questions at the beginning of the lecture and consider whether the answer has changed. What are the shortcomings and limitations of the policy theory discussed in this lecture? How does this affect the inspection in practice? Prof. Ke jian, Prof. Zhang Zhiwei and the students had a heated discussion.

 

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Liu Jing gave a brief summary of Prof. Peter Mascini's lecture, and once again expressed her welcome and thanks to Prof. Mascini. The lecture ended smoothly in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
