Teachers of RIEL attend “Delta Environmental Law Forum”

On October 15-16, the “2016 Delta Environmental Law Forum” hosted by Delta Environment and Education Foundation and undertaken by the law school of Renmin University of China was held in Beijing. More than 80 scholars, experts and students in environment law from both sides were invited to this forum and discussed “Ecological Civilization Construction and Greenization of Law” in depth. Prof. Cai Shouqiu, Prof. Wang Shuyi, Prof. Du Qun, Prof. Ke Jian, Assoc. Prof. Luo Ji and Dr. Hu Bin, as well as several award winners and alumni attended.  

On the morning of October 15, the opening ceremony and award ceremony of Scholar Program of Delta Environmental Law were held in Mingde Building of Renmin University of China. The vice president Wang Liming congratulated the opening of forum and appreciated the Delta Environment and Education Foundation for its contribution to the promotion of environmental law research. PhD student Du Yin and Master student Pei Yilin were awarded Outstanding Dissertation Award and Dissertation Scholarship, respectively.

The high-end forum session invited Li Junfeng, the director of National Climate Change Strategy Research and International Cooperation Center to give a report on “Coping with Climate Change to Promote Development and Transformation” and Wei Wenchao, the vice president of SPC Environmental and Resources Tribunal, to give keynote speech entitled “Environmental Trials and Environmental Law Research”. On the afternoon of October 15 and 16, those award winners gave academic reports on a variety of hot topics. Prof. Du Qun made a keynote speech on “Legal Issues on Soil pollution”. Finally, at the closing ceremony of the forum, Mr. Li Nianzu gave a closing speech and announced that “2017 Delta Environmental Law Forum” with the theme of “Low-carbon Society Construction and Environmental Rule of Law” will be hosted by WHU again.
