Prof. Ben Boer attends 3^rd ADB Asian Judge Seminar

On September 26-27, 2016, the “1000 Talents Program” Professor Ben Boer was invited to participate in the Judge Seminar on “Law, Policy and Climate Change” held by the Asian Development Bank(ADB) in Manila, the Philippines. He delivered a speech entitled “Climate Change and Human Rights: Trends and Developments in Asian-Pacific Region”.

This seminar attracted approximately 70 judges, lawyers and scholars from the Asian-Pacific region. It focused on climate change, including the Paris Convention on Climate Change, sustainable development goals, food and water security, green urban development, Pakistan's climate change dispute resolution, climate change’s impact on vulnerable groups and discrimination against women.

Several judges, lawyers, experts and scholars gave speeches and discussed the related issues. Among them Judge Wang Zhanfei of the Supreme People's Court gave a distinctive speech entitled “China's Experience in Judicial Countermeasures on Climate Change”.
