Teachers and Students of RIEL attend the International Annual Meeting of IUCN Academy of Environmental Law in Norway
On June 20-24, 2016, the 14th International Annual Meeting of IUCN Academy of Environmental Law, with the theme of “environmental law in court”, was held at the University of Oslo, Norway. Prof. Qin Tianbao, Prof. Ben Boer, Dr. Wu Yu, Dr. Zhang Jing, Dr. Wei Lele and alumnus Assoc. Professor Jiang Xiaoyi were invited.
Before the annual colloquium, Prof. Qin Tianbao and Prof. Ben Boer attended the working conference of the Governing Board of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law, which focused on the legal and financial matters in the secretariat transferring from the University of Ottawa to the University of Perth.
Prof. Qin Tianbao chaired the panel discussion on “Principles of Environmental Law”. Prof. Ben Boer and Dr. Wu Yu, on behalf of SPC Theory Research Base of Environmental and Resources Justice and Collaboration Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization, made speeches on “New Development of China's Environmental Tribunals”, attracting wide attention for participants. Assoc. Prof. Jiang Xiaoyi delivered a speech entitled “Marine Environment and the Trial of International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea”. The doctoral student Zhang Jing talked about “Healthy Right and Nature Protection” in the section of “Environmental Protection and Human Rights Approach”, which demonstrated the independent research, presentation and communication of doctoral students of RIEL.
