Mr. Hu Bin’s translation published by Wuhan University Press

Recently, the translation of “Commentary on Draft International Covenant on Environment and Development” by Mr. Hu Bin, the assistant of RIEL, was published by Wuhan University Press.

This file includes two parts, the first one is the full text of Draft International Covenant on Environment and Development, another one is its commentary which interprets each clause and provides its legal source. Drafters intended to remain the covenant a “living document”, as a basis for multilateral negotiations. With the emergence of some new situations of international community and the deepening progress of international implementation, the first edition of draft covenant was completed in 1992 and its second, third and fourth edition were officially released in 1999, 2004 and 2010, respectively, continuously absorbing new ideas and new results.

It is said that Hu’s translation is one of the Luojia translation series on environmental law, which contributes to promote academic exchange between east and west, and Chinese environmental rule of law.
